See the signup take shape
A real starting point, with room to make it yours.
Three support teams work from 9 to 11 AM: four cleaning places, three laundry places, and two supply-preparation places. Each volunteer chooses one role because the shifts run at the same time.
Shelter Volunteer Morning
Choose one shelter support role and review its orientation requirements. Arrive at the volunteer entrance for the briefing. Signup does not replace the shelter's approval or training process.

Support the people doing the caring
Small teams make the everyday work manageable.
Cleaning, bedding, and prepared supplies matter even when they are not the first tasks a new volunteer imagines. Give those roles useful descriptions and an identifiable place to report.
Cleaning support
Explain the expected task, clothing, and briefing. Let the shelter decide what work is suitable for each approved volunteer.
Laundry and bedding
State where the team should report and how work is organized. A specific role description helps volunteers choose beyond the animal-facing jobs.
Supply preparation
Name the preparation work and the point of contact. Avoid promising an animal-handling experience when the offered role is supplies.
From an example to your event
Make this signup your own.
- 1
Confirm the shelter's work plan
Review cleaning, laundry, and supply roles with the team. Replace any task that does not match your shelter's process.
- 2
Apply the volunteer date
Choose the day and apply the starter schedule. All three roles initially run from 9 to 11 AM; adjust the actual times and capacities.
- 3
Explain requirements and arrival
Add orientation instructions, the volunteer entrance, and the briefing time. Keep approval or sensitive records in the shelter's existing process.
- 4
Review role coverage
Keep one selection per signup for these overlapping shifts. Check each team's remaining places before sharing another request.
Beyond the signup list
A small plan for a smoother day.
Use these example notes to think through the work before, during, and after your event.
Before opening places
Check supervision
Offer only the roles and capacities the shelter team is ready to support.
At arrival
Match people to their roles
Use the signup roster for the commitment and the shelter's own process for approval and orientation.
After the morning
Review what was needed
Adjust the next event's tasks and capacities from the team's experience, rather than copying them without review.

Our laundry team is covered for Saturday. We have one cleaning-support place and one supply-preparation place open from 9 to 11 AM. Please review the shelter's orientation requirements and arrive at the volunteer entrance for the briefing.
