Support comes in more than one form

Keep the invitation focused on the work people can do.

Clear expectations help volunteers arrive ready. Explain the role and equipment first, then make the supplies contribution a simple optional offer alongside the signup.

  • Make the role concrete

Describe the cleanup area, briefing, suitable clothing, and equipment provided. Give volunteers a way to ask about access or suitability.

  • Name the supplies budget

Explain what optional contributions support and who makes purchases. Avoid implying a contribution is required to receive basic equipment.

  • Keep the organizing team connected

Organization supports shared event management and contacts for repeat projects. Review instructions and staffing for each workday.

Payments

Value the time people give

Keep volunteering free while offering optional help with supplies. Money does not change a volunteer's place; a separate collection supports giving without taking a shift.

Available on Free and Organization. Complete Stripe setup with an eligible US account to collect payments in US dollars. Organizers pay Stripe processing fees plus Signup Bubble’s 1% fee, with a $0.25 minimum and a $0.75 maximum per checkout.

From an example to your event

Make this signup your own.

  1. 1

    Confirm the cleanup and supplies

Agree on the actual work, briefing point, equipment, and weather plan. Choose the receiving workspace and finish Stripe setup for optional contributions.

  2. 2

    Apply the shift date

Choose the day and apply the 9 to 11 AM and 1 to 3 PM shifts. Review the ten-person limits, timezone, and one-shift selection rule.

  3. 3

    Keep the support optional

The example suggests $5 toward supplies. Enable optional contributions separately if you want to collect. Say explicitly that volunteers may skip it and still join. Use a separate collection for giving without volunteering.

  4. 4

    Review and share the invitation

Add arrival, access, clothing, provided equipment, and contact/refund details. Preview both the free and contributing paths, save a draft, then publish.

Beyond the signup list

A small plan for a smoother day.

Use these example notes to think through the work before, during, and after your event.

  1. Before sharing

    Prepare the workday

Confirm the location, roles, equipment, supervision, and weather plan. Publish any separate orientation requirements.

  2. Before each shift

    Review people and equipment

Use confirmed volunteer commitments for staffing and payment records for supplies. Keep those counts separate.

  3. After the cleanup

    Report the work completed

Thank the volunteers, explain supplies spending where appropriate, and pause or update collection arrangements for the next project.

A few practical questions

Before you share your signup

Can a volunteer join without contributing money?
Yes. Volunteering remains free. The contribution can be skipped without changing the volunteer's signup choice.
Does giving more reserve more volunteer places?
No. Contributions and capacity are separate. This starter records one volunteer per signup and one chosen shift.
Can supporters give without volunteering?
Share a separate collection page for that purpose. This starter requires a shift choice, so using it only to pay would claim a volunteer place.
Does a signup replace volunteer training or approval?
No. State any orientation, suitability, or approval steps in your normal project process. Signup coordinates a place; it does not complete those steps automatically.
Do I need a paid plan to collect payments?
No. Payments are available on Free and Organization with an eligible US Stripe account and US-dollar payments. Complete Stripe setup for the personal or Organization workspace receiving the money. Transaction fees apply. Organization is useful when colleagues share management, contacts, and an ongoing program.
